WHAT YOU ARE IN FOR
This is the Albany Running Exchange's 4th year of staging this irreverent event. It is dangerous, unnecessary, and chances are that you might cry while participating. For some strange reason, though, you registered for this event looking forward to whatever torture we have in store for you.

The course will be between 4 and 8 miles - you will never know. If you wear a GPS watch, good luck having it figure out the figure 8s and other climbing we have you do. Just be careful that there may be parts that go under water (we've had pond crossings in the past - sometimes it's frozen over, sometimes it's not.)

While it may sound rough, put simply, we don't want someone to show up and then complain that they got hurt. If you're idea of a tough race is a 5k road race with a 10 foot hill, this is not for you. We hope that when you finish (or are removed from the course by event personnel) that you at least can agree with how we have advertised the event.

DAY-OF LOGISTICS
Plan to arrive between 12pm and 12:40pm. Registration opens at 12pm, if you come sooner we will have you cut wood for the fire so the volunteers can stay warm. The race will begin "around" 1pm and may feature a 'non-traditional' start (last year everyone started in their cars and the year before we made everyone lay on their backs.)

We expect the first finishers to be under an hour with the final finishers in the ~2 hour range.

WHAT YOU GET
One heck of an experience! You also get one heck of a BBQ cook-out following the run.

The race is staged out of the Farmhouse at Dippikill which is the white building adjacent to the parking lot at Dippikill. There are bathrooms and showers just across from the parking lot, so feel free to bring a change of clothes.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
If you are new to the ARE/ARE events, be aware that we love to have fun. Some of the things we find fun, though, can also be dangerous. If you don't have experience running on ice covered rocks or careening down steep paths, definitely treat this race as a fun hike and don't try to battle with the crazed racers who live for this stuff. There will be plenty of hot dogs waiting for you. :)

We look forward to having you join us for an awesome race! If you have any friends who want to tag along, registration is available at the event for the same price of $10.

See you there!
