To bring together those who share a common interest in
running. Whether it be for sport, hobby, or simply to lose a few pounds,
the ARE hopes to encourage and promote running throughout the
EXECUTIVE
BOARD: The following
four positions shall be recognized as the “Executive Board” as per the Student
Association at the University at
President –
The
President is the highest administrative officer, with the power to appoint or
remove officers, write rules, levy dues, and govern the club for it to best
achieve its purposes. More specifically,
the president shall oversee all club related activities and serve as a liaison
between the different officers.
Vice President – The Vice President shall serve as the
assistant to the President,
Treasurer – The Treasurer
is responsible for keeping all of the club’s financial records as well as
providing written documentation as needed according to the Treasurer’s
Handbook. The Treasurer shall be
responsible for the collection and record keeping of membership dues, race
fees, apparel purchases, as well as the organization of fundraising activities.
Secretary –
The
Secretary is responsible for taking and maintaining all non-monetary records,
namely in the form of keeping the minutes of all club meetings and events. The secretary should also account for the
volunteer work of club members, namely with other races, bagel sales, etc.
COORDINATORS: The
following positions exist to help the ARE run more efficiently. Executive Officers can also be coordinators,
and one person can coordinate multiple aspects of the organization.
Volunteer: The
volunteer coordinator shall serve as the liaison between the Albany Running
Exchange and outside organizations seeking volunteer assistance for their
running events. It will be this person’s
duty to maintain an online listing of volunteer opportunities, as well as to
encourage and seek out the necessary number of volunteers. Emails should be sent on a periodic basis
informing ARE members of these volunteer opportunities.
Bagel
Bagel Asst: This person will assist the
coordinator to ensure that all those who are on the schedule know about
it. This can be done via phone, IM,
etc. The assistant will also help the
coordinator with whatever he/she needs done, although it is ultimately the
coordinator’s responsibility to oversee the operations.
Posting: This
person is responsible for placing posters and flyers all over the entire campus,
wherever they can legally be posted.
This includes the entire podium, all four quads, Empire Commons, the
RACC, PE Building, Freedom Quad, and Alumni Quad. In the fall, the coordinator should seek out
assistants on each part of campus.
Race: This
person(s) is responsible for both letting the members know of upcoming races,
as well as organizing the trip to/fro the race.
This includes making the car arrangements/hotel arrangements, getting
directions and making them readily available, and also working with the
treasurer per gas money and other subsidizations. More than one person can do this; members
should feel free to volunteer to coordinate a specific race or trip. In the event the ARE is going to pay the
entry fees, the race coordinator should set a deadline for ARE members to
submit applications, as well as work with the treasurer to extract the
necessary funds from the account.
Photo: This
person is responsible for either taking digital pictures at any ARE
race/trip/event or arranging for someone else to. More than one person can take pictures.
Website: This
person is responsible for maintaining the website on a daily basis. It should feature an up-to-date listing of
races, membership information, race results from events the ARE has
participated in, as well as photos and related recaps of any race or special
event the ARE is involved in.
Group Run: This
person(s) is responsible for setting a regular time on a specific day(s) to
hold group runs. It can be once a week
or every day, but by stating they will hold a group run at said time/date, they
obligate themselves to be present.
****EVENTS****
Members are
encouraged to submit ideas for races/events at any time. We presently direct three events.
