The ARE Archives
Welcome to the "all
about" the ARE page.
The Albany Running
Exchange formed on the campus of the University at Albany
in Albany, New York in the fall of 2002. The articles
on the left can provide more insight into the history
of the organization.
The number one priority
of the ARE is to serve as an exchange for individuals
to find running partners. Our members page provides
a terrific place to do this, as does simply attending
ARE events and meeting others in the club.
Many of the club members
enjoy distance running, and we've had over a dozen members
run their marathons with the club. The ARE also has
a penchant for trails, and we can typically be found
running on them all summer long, as well as strapping
on the snowshoes come winter (or October to April depending
on the Albany weather!)
If there's one thing
that we DO NOT stress, it is competition.
The ARE is committed to the cause of running as a lifelong
pursuit, and we have members who run the 5k under 15
minutes to nearly 40 minutes. In short, running is social
activity for us, and if you enjoy both running and having
a good time, then join us sometime!
Thanks for visiting!
